Care in London: common questions

How many care services are there in London?

The CQC register lists 12 active registered care services with a registered office in London, London. Home care agencies often cover a wider area than the town their office sits in.

Will the council pay for care in London?

That depends on your finances, not on where you live. If your capital is above £23,250 you normally pay the full cost. Below £14,250 your capital is ignored. Between the two you contribute £1 a week for every £250 of capital. Your council carries out the assessment. 2026/27 thresholds for England.

What does a CQC rating mean?

CQC inspects services and rates them Outstanding, Good, Requires improvement or Inadequate, across five areas: safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. Some services have no published rating, usually because they are newly registered. No rating is not the same as a poor rating.

Carevo does not inspect or endorse services. CQC ratings change between inspections. Check the CQC website for the current rating and read the full report before choosing a provider.
