I write about how the provider data actually works, because the difference between a directory you can trust and one you cannot is entirely in the data behind it.
About Buddhika
Buddhika is the co-founder and CTO of Carevo, with more than 15 years in software engineering. He previously worked at Coviu, the telehealth platform spun out of CSIRO, which is where he first worked on systems that sit between clinicians, providers and the people who need them.
At Carevo he is responsible for the provider data: how it is ingested from the regulator, how it is normalised, and how services are matched to the people looking for them. For the UK site that means the Care Quality Commission's published register, which is the source of every provider listing, rating and count on this site.
He writes about how that data is sourced, what it can and cannot tell you, and where the limits are. On this site those limits are stated explicitly rather than glossed over: CQC publishes a provider's registered office, not the area it covers, and publishes nothing at all about which funding a provider accepts.
