Why I write about this
I write about funding, eligibility, and the decisions families face because I lived them when my father moved into respite and then palliative care. The system differs between countries, the position families find themselves in does not.
About Andre
Andre is the co-founder and CEO of Carevo. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Marketing, and a Bachelor of Arts from UNSW Sydney, where his majors were International Relations, Politics, Information Systems, and Media and Communications, graduating in 2014, and went through the UNSW 10x Founders accelerator in 2023.
That grounding matters here, because care funding is downstream of government policy in the UK exactly as it is in Australia. A background in politics and international relations is why Andre follows the legislation, reviews and reform that decide what families are actually entitled to, from the Care Act charging rules to the annual April uprating of benefit rates.
Before Carevo he worked at Prezi and at myInterview, a video interviewing platform that was later acquired, and he spoke at the Google Cloud Summit in Sydney in 2025.
His perspective is also personal: his father went into respite and then palliative care. That experience of navigating a care system as a family member, rather than as a professional, shapes how Carevo writes about funding, eligibility and the decisions families face when care needs change.
